Georgian PM - Gov’t maintained peace, stability in “turbulent” 2023 geopolitical situation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday said his Government managed to maintain “peace, stability and strong economic development” amid “extremely difficult, turbulent” geopolitical situations throughout the past year.

Garibashvili told the ongoing annual Ambassadorial Conference in Georgia's capital city of Tbilisi the country’s economic development had started to bring “concrete tangible results”, as the country had “one of the fastest developing economies in the world”.

The PM said the ongoing occupation of 20 percent of Georgian territories by Russia remained the “main challenge” for the country.

Of course, the high level of unemployment, the level of poverty remains a challenge. However, I would like to note that this year, as a result of strong economic development, the level of poverty and unemployment dropped to a historic low. Also, the national reserves of the country have approached a historic high”, he added.
