Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Friday highlighted the “great importance” of farmers' work for the development of economy and creation of jobs in the country, while congratulating and thanking farmers at the event dedicated to their professional day.

I would like to thank you for making such high-quality products, with which Georgia is boldly positioned among many countries of the world, including highly developed countries”, Kvrivishvili noted in her address.

She emphasised the Government’s readiness to continue technical and financial support to farmers for the promotion of agricultural export growth. The importance of free trade agreements with various countries in this regard was also noted by the Deputy Minister.

At the event, attended by more than 200 representatives of the public and private sectors, diplomatic corps, non-governmental and donor organisations, Kvrivishvili reviewed the “serious results” achieved by the country under the free trade regime, noting Georgian products had the opportunity to enter one-third of the world market of 2.3 billion consumers.

We continue to work successfully in this direction”, the Deputy Minister added.

Nine successful farmers have been awarded in various nomination categories at the event, organised by the Georgian Farmers' Association.
