The National Bank of Georgia and its educational platform Finedu on Thursday won the poster competition on financial education at the sixth biennial Global Social and Financial Skills Conference that brought together experts and practitioners to share knowledge and best practices to socially and economically empower children and youth.
The NBG said representatives of central banks, educational institutions and non-governmental organisations shared their experience of teaching financial education issues to school-aged children at the event.
Kety Akhalkatsi, the Head of the Financial Education and Strategic Development Department at the NBG, discussed the Bank's experience, implemented projects and future plans.
Financial education is one of the priorities of the National Bank. Since 2018, issues related to financial education have been compulsory teaching in general education schools”, she pointed out.
“Work in this direction continues intensively. In order to achieve success, it is important that all parties, including the private sector and non-formal education providers, are involved as much as possible in children's education projects”, the NBG representative added.
Hosted last week in the Netherlands, the Conference - organised by the Aflatoun International network of partner organisations, teachers, supporters and staff - featured more than 300 representatives from 80 countries.
