The Government Administration building is on Wednesday illuminated in the colours of the European Union flag in a symbolic move after the European Commission recommended the European Council to grant Georgia its membership candidate status next month, the Administration said.
The hilltop TV tower overlooking Georgia’s capital Tbilisi is also illuminated in the EU colours, the Tbilisi City Hall said, hailing today’s recommendation as “another historical decision” of the Commission on Georgia’s EU candidacy.

The Commission recommended the EU candidacy for Georgia with nine conditions earlier today, after the country officially applied for EU membership in March 2022, shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and was granted a European perspective and a reform agenda to obtain the bloc’s candidacy.
