The Global Law and Order 2023 report by Gallup, a Washington-based analytics and advisory company, has ranked Georgia ahead of the likes of France, Italy and Canada on perceptions of safety, security and confidence in law enforcement.
In the report, Georgia was given 87 out of 100 possible points, nearly as many as the likes of Germany, Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands.
The country also ended up above Hungary, Belgium, Australia, Japan and Croatia.
The latest ranking marks a single-point improvement for the country compared to the 2022 edition of the report.
The results of the latest survey were based on telephone or face-to-face surveys of approximately 1,000 respondents, Gallup said.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday said his office would reveal a new decision about the regulation of the pension system for the country’s law enforcement and defence sector, pledging to ensure additional efforts for providing “decent working conditions” to employees in his comments for Veterans’ Day.
Kakha Kaladze, the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday highlighted the importance of “objective, fact-based” public opinion surveys at the Gallup International Association annual conference, hosted in Tbilisi for the first time.
Georgia has scored 88 out of total 100 points in Gallup’s 2021 Law and Order Index.
Georgia takes 17th place among 142 countries for security, reveals the Law and Order Index by Gallup, an American research-based, global performance-management consulting company.
