Archil Talakvadze, the Georgian Parliament’s Vice Speaker, on Sunday highlighted the importance of the meeting of the prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia on the sidelines of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum last week.

In an interview with Imedi TV, Talakvadze noted the development was “once again” returning Georgia to a “historical role” that was “important for our region”.

It is very important that after the proposal of the [Georgian] Prime Minister, Azerbaijan and Armenia used the Georgian space and the negotiation table that we offered for an agreement that is important for achieving long-term peace in the region”, Talakvadze said.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday highlighted hosting Ali Asadov and Nikol Pashinyan at the Forum, and noted he was “glad” to host the officials.

Their discussions covered the “future of the South Caucasus” and “large-scale” regional projects in the “common interests” of the states of the region.
