Lasha Zhvania, the Georgian Ambassador to Israel on Sunday “advised those who are under stress” to leave Israel and go back to Georgia as the situation in the country “is still tense” amid the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict, emphasising “this process will not end in two or three months, these are quite long hostilities”.

The  Ambassador told the media “fewer people apply to the Embassy” wishing to leave the country, adding those who want to return to Georgia could travel by direct flights or through Cyprus.

He also commented on the termination of flights by Georgian Airways, saying the Embassy had no information about when the company would resume direct flights from Israel. “The main thing for us is that there are direct flights between Tel Aviv-Tbilisi and Tel Aviv-Batumi”, Zhvania noted.

The death of another Georgian Jew, a 9-year-old girl, was confirmed by the Ambassador.

Hamas launched more than 5,000 rockets from Gaza into Israeli territory, with the group’s fighters entering the country’s territories and kidnapping citizens, both alive and dead. At least 1,400 people have been killed in Israel and more than 7,000 in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli Government declared a state of war alert.
