Lela Chikovani, the First Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia, and her Lithuanian colleague Žilvinas Tomkus discussed cooperation between the two countries during a meeting held on Thursday in Tbilisi, the Georgian Ministry said.
Chikovani thanked her Lithuanian colleague for “strong political and practical cooperation” in defence, while Lithuania was also highlighted as an “important supporter” of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The conversation also discussed cooperation between the European Union and Georgia in security and defence policy in “various formats”.

The importance of Lithuania’s support to Georgia in the implementation of the initiatives envisaged by the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package was also noted at the meeting, which also involved Lithuania’s Georgia Ambassador Andrius Kalindra and Defence Attaché Donatas Rupšys.
Within his official meeting in Georgia, Tomkus visited the 4th Infantry Brigade training grounds in Vaziani near Tbilisi and inspected 500 kilowatt solar energy panels installed at the base with the financial support of his country.
