Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday told his Slovenian counterpart Robert Golob his Government had already fulfilled the “major part” of the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Union last year for granting Tbilisi its membership candidate status.
In a meeting held on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Granada, Spain, the official also told his colleague “only a few matters” related to the conditions remained to be met, which Garibashvili claimed would be regulated “in line with the bloc’s recommendations”, the Government press office said.
The Georgian PM stressed his country “deserved” the bloc’s candidacy, and expressed hope for Slovenia’s “firm support” on “each stage” of his country’s European integration, before extending congratulations on the country’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
