The “successful” cooperation and “friendly” relations between Georgia and Slovenia were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia.
Garibashvili welcomed the recent intensification of bilateral contacts and high-level visits between the sides, which he said would make a “significant” contribution to the advancement of cooperation, the Government Administration said.
The meeting focused on the country’s European integration process and the “significant” progress achieved on the path, with Garibashvili noting his Government “appreciates Slovenia's support for the progress of Georgia's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures”.
The Government head stressed the EU integration was the “choice of the Georgian citizens” and the “main priority” of the Government's foreign policy, and further pointed out his Government was doing “everything” to achieve the goal.
He also informed Zupančič about the implementation of the bloc’s recommendations for granting Georgia the EU membership candidate status, and said he hoped Georgia would have “strong political and practical support” from Slovenia to “help Georgia move to the next stage of joining the European Union”.
Garibashvili also thanked the Slovenian official for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of his country.
