Irakli Burchuladze, the Director of the Mountain Trails Agency, on Saturday said that hosting the Freeride World Tour in 2024 in Georgia’s Tetnuldi ski resort in northwestern Svaneti region “is a victory for the country”, stressing Georgia would “once again be marked” on the world sports map in a new direction.

He noted it was recognition for Georgia that the country’s ski resorts “have great potential” and emphasised by hosting the Bakuriani World Championship, Georgia earned the trust and recognition of international experts. “We will host the Freeride World Tour with dignity”, Burchuladze added.

For the first time in the country’s history, Georgia received the right to hold the Freeride World Tour, along with Canada, Andorra, Spain, Switzerland and Austria.

The competition in freeriding, which involves sliding in untracked snow on difficult and mountainous terrain, will be held in March 2024.
