Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Saturday said the Fraser Institute's Economic Freedom of the World 2023 report ranked Georgia 15th in Europe and 25th in the world, being ahead of 19 NATO members, 16 European Union member states and all EU candidate countries.
In his tweet, Papuashvili noted it was important to admit that in the ‘Impartial Court’ category of the report, Georgia was ahead of four EU and all candidate countries, “despite not even having formally obtained the candidate status yet”.

Georgia’s ranking in the European Research Centre for Anti Corruption’s latest Government Transparency index has jumped from 54th to 17th, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told the Parliament on Friday.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday said his country’s “impressive leap” from 54th to 17th in the latest Transparency in the Time of War Index was “another evidence” the European Union’s refusal to grant Tbilisi its membership candidate status last year had been “far from [being] a merit-based decision”.
Georgia’s ranking in the European Research Centre for Anti Corruption and State-Building’s latest Transparency in the Time of War index has jumped from 54th to 17th, Revaz Javelidze, the Head of the Government Administration, announced on Monday.
Georgia has taken 5th place among 165 countries in the world in the economic freedom annual report published by the Fraser Institute. The most recent comprehensive data available are from 2019. Hong Kong remains in the top position. Singapore comes in second. The next highest scoring nations are New Zealand, Switzerland, Georgia, United States, Ireland, Lithuania, Australia, and Denmark.
Georgia’s National Intellectual Property Centre on Wednesday said the country had advanced to the 65th place in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index and credited the “recent push in innovation-oriented policies” for the outcome.
Georgia’s National Intellectual Property Centre on Friday said the country had advanced to the 66th place in the Property Rights Alliance’s International Property Rights Index and gained “international recognition” on its improvement of intellectual property protection.
