Georgia’s Deputy Economy Minister joins Committee on Sustainable Energy in Geneva

Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Romeo Mikautadze on Wednesday featured in the 32nd Session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy, organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and spoke about the importance of establishing a “sustainable energy system” on the continent.
The Ministry of Economy cited Mikautadze as telling the event the transformation of the energy system on the continent was “essential” in achieving the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement and the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.
"The goal of such a transformation is to develop renewable energy generation facilities, transmission systems, trading instruments and, at the same time, to improve the mechanism of reducing investment risks”, he said.
“All this will contribute to a better availability of renewable energy and, if necessary, make possible trading in electricity on other competitive markets”, Mikautadze added.
Mikautadze is the Vice Chairman of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy.
Georgia has proven to be a “valuable participant” of the Southern Gas Corridor, a route delivering gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, and plays a “key role” in energy resources reaching European markets, Romeo Mikautadze, the Deputy Economy Minister, said on Friday.
Romeo Mikautadze, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia, on Sunday said the ongoing year was seeing “record figures” in generation and exports of electricity, in an address to employees of the sector on their professional day.
Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Georgian Deputy Economy Minister, on Wednesday highlighted the country’s “real potential” to play a “key role” in the development of reliable and safe supply chains and promote energy security on the Eurasian continent.
Romeo Mikautadze, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia, featured in a meeting on the development and transmission of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary and Romania, the Ministry said on Tuesday.
Positive economic trends in Georgia were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting of the Government’s Economic Council led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Romeo Mikautadze on Saturday said the European Mobility Week, hosted in Tbilisi starting from today till Friday, aimed to raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility, promoting travel by public transport, walking and cycling.
