The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has evaluated 333 locations across Georgia for building new heliports and contribute to the development of domestic flights, local media outlet IPN reported on Tuesday.
By the order of the Ministry of Economy, the Civil Aviation Agency completed the technical study of inactive and new airfields on the territory of Georgia and developed a report on the possibility of arranging airfields for helicopters”, the Agency told the IPN.
The Agency also said the development of aviation infrastructure was planned “in various directions” in the country.
In particular, the construction of a new runway is planned at the Kutaisi International Airport, which will contribute to the improvement of the potential of the Airport and air cargo transportation of the country. Plans are also in place to renovate the Telavi Airport, set up new terminal infrastructure and extend the existing runway”, the Agency said.
The body added the Government’s goal was to “support and stimulate” domestic tourism in the country and expand the geographical area of domestic flights.
