Prosecutors discuss gender-based crime, legal procedures with students

Professionals representing the country’s Prosecutor General and Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Offices on Friday met students of universities based in capital Tbilisi to discuss gender-based crime and related legal procedures.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the meeting, hosted as part of a public campaign against femicide, discussed investigation procedures for the type of crime, as well as prevention mechanisms and other legal aspects. 

Students involved in the meeting asked questions and voiced their opinions on gender stereotypes, and highlighted the importance of raising public awareness to combat gender-based violence.

Supported by the United States Embassy in Georgia and the United Nations Women's Organisation, the campaign is organised by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
