The Strategic Communications Service of the Government of Georgia on Thursday dismissed “false information” in media reports that said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili had travelled to the United States with his son on a Government-funded charter flight in August.
In the statement, the Service said a charter flight had carried the PM to “one of the cities of Europe” but added the travel to the US had been organised using a “regular flight”.
It added the state budget had not been used for travel “or any other purpose” in the “private visit”.
The Service also said the PM used “regular, commercial flights of various airlines” during both official and and private visits to the US.
