Georgian officials on Thursday congratulated Ukraine on its Independence Day and expressed solidarity with the country on the backdrop of the ongoing Russian aggression.
In a message over the date, the Georgian foreign office said the country’s Government remained a “committed supporter” of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and wished citizens of the country “peace and prosperity”.

In her address, the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili told Ukrainian citizens that “we will be together on the day of your victory”.
“Georgia is with you today on this Independence Day. Georgia wants to celebrate with you your independence for which you have been fighting so bravely for now year and a half”, Zourabichvili said.

Archil Talakvadze, the Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and the head of the friendship group with the Ukrainian Parliament, stressed his country stood “in solidarity” with Ukraine and reaffirmed “commitment” to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
