The latest feature work Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry by Georgian filmmaker Elene Naveriani was unveiled as the winner of the Best Feature Film at the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival.
Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry star Ekaterine Chavleishvili also took the Best Actress honour at the festival.

Etero, a 48-year-old woman living in a small village in Georgia, never wanted a husband. She cherishes her freedom as much as her cakes. But her choice to live alone is the cause of much gossip among her fellow villagers. Unexpectedly, she finds herself passionately falling for a man, and is suddenly faced with the decision of pursuing a relationship or continuing a life of independence. Etero must grapple with her feelings and decide how to find her own path to happiness”

Naveriani and Nikoloz Mdivani produced the screenplay for Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry, with Agnesh Pakozdi contributing through photography. The feature is produced by the Swiss-based Alva Film, with co-production by Georgian-based Takes Film.
The film had its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The latest feature work by Georgian filmmaker Elene Naveriani will have its world premiere at the 55th edition of Directors’ Fortnight, a programme running in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival, after its selection among 30 films for the platform.
The programme for this year’s Tbilisi Pride Week kicked off on Tuesday in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi with a screening of Wet Sand, an award-winning feature by director Elene Naveriani.
Feature films by directors Elene Naveriani and Salomé Jashi will be screened in two programmes of the upcoming Locarno Film Festival, with the former's Wet Sand debuting in the section showcasing emerging global talent and the award-winning Taming the Garden from the latter selected for Swiss Panorama.
