Georgia’s National Environment Agency on Monday said a heatwave was expected to raise temperatures across the country this week, with areas in the west of the country set to see 41 degrees.

In the east of the country, temperatures will reach 37-39 degrees in the lowlands, while in the mountainous parts it will vary between 28 and 33 degrees.

The body warned the anticipated temperatures would provide for “ideal conditions” for conditions causing heat stress, forest fires and glacier melting.
