Law enforcement solved over 61.86% of crimes in first half of 2023 - Interior Ministry

Georgian law enforcement agencies solved 16,738 out of 27,057 criminal cases between January and June to reach a 61.86 percent solution rate, new figures released by the Interior Ministry on Thursday show.

The statistical update said the number of registered crimes had decreased by 4.41 percent from the previous year.

It also noted most crimes committed in the country were thefts, with 4,112 out of 7,437 cases resolved.

The Ministry said 1,763 out of 2,153 cases involving domestic violence had been solved, with 825 involving violence and 1,824 related to threats also closed.

The bodies also identified 2,899 drug-related cases and solved 2,652.

From other categories of crime, the Ministry said 148 out of 169 cases of robbery and 462 out of 972 involving fraud had been solved, in addition to 26 out of 51 cases of extortion closed.

Law enforcement agencies also recorded 515 cases of cybercrime with 246 solved, while 270 out of 1,419 traffic offences were also closed.
