Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday said he was proud that Georgia had held the UEFA 2023 Under 21 European Championship “very well”, thanking everyone involved and emphasising the Georgian national team had performed “admirably, very strongly”.

Garibashvili’s comments followed the letter of UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin earlier today, in which he thanked the PM for his “invaluable contribution” to making the Under 21 European Championship “an outstanding success”.

Georgia co-hosted the tournament with Romania between June 21-July 8, in Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi, with the country’s national team managing to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in history.
