Cooperation between Georgia and the United Nations Development Programme was discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Nick Beresford, the UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia.
The meeting focused on “further deepening and strengthening” the cooperation, the press service of the Georgian Parliament said.

Beresford informed Papuashvili “in detail” about priority areas, current activities and plans related to a new phase of the UNDP Parliamentary Support Project.
The officials also reviewed institutional development of the Georgian Parliament and the needs in the process, as well as the importance of the involvement of interested parties in Parliamentary processes during the implementation of the project.
The first Georgian animation production, based on a manga graphic novel series and created under a campaign on the topic of forest cover protection, has earned the second prize for the best creative product in the United Nations Development Programme’s global contest Digital Awards, UNDP Georgia revealed on Friday.
The work accomplished in the joint human rights projects involving the Georgian Government on the one hand and the United Nations Development Programme, UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Union was discussed on Friday by Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and officials from UNDP, OHCHR and EU.
The United Nations Development Programme, Sweden and Euronews Georgia have launched Climate Magazines, a series of documentaries detailing key climate change issues and impacts in Georgia, in a bid to better inform the country’s residents about challenges posed by the issue.
