Representatives of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will hold meetings with Georgian officials, entrepreneurs and civil society during their official visit to capital Tbilisi this week, the EBRD announced on Monday.
The announcement said the delegation, led by the Bank’s Regional Director for the Caucasus, Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, would visit projects the Bank has funded in the country.
It also said the EBRD representatives would receive “direct access” to information about current events in the economies where the institution conducts business.
The Bank's most recent involvement in Georgia was approved in December 2021 and aims to increase the “improve the productivity and resilience of the economy”. It also said it was aiming to “promote equal opportunities through better inclusion and balanced territorial development” and “accelerate the green transition through increased investment and better governance” in the country.
The EBRD has contributed more than €5 billion to 286 projects in Georgia, with its private sector financing making up 82 percent of the total.
