The current economic situation in Georgia was discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and James John, the Deputy Chief of the International Monetary Fund.
The PM’s press office said the meeting highlighted the country’s “remarkable” economic recovery following the crisis brought by the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, and said the dynamics remained present despite “global issues”.
Garibashvili emphasised the importance of the IMF's current $289 million programme for macroeconomic and financial stability of the country.
The Government's head also extended his gratitude to John for IMF's “firm support” of Georgia's structural, financial, and economic reforms, noting the country was “committed to reforms”.
