Strengthening the cooperation within the framework of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership was discussed on Friday in Brussels in a meeting involving the Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Teimuraz Janjalia and representatives of the European External Action Service, the European Commission and the countries of the Eastern Partnership.
The meeting reviewed the 2023 Eastern Partnership plan, with the officials discussing the implementation process of flagship projects developed within the framework of the EaP economic and investment plans, the Georgian foreign office said.
The Georgian official emphasised the importance of “effectively” using all available formats with the EU, including the Eastern Partnership, a move he said would “ensure even greater rapprochement with the European Union”.
Janjalia focused on the role of the EaP economic and investment plan for the partner countries and the economic and political importance of the implementation of flagship projects developed for Georgia within it.
He also reviewed deepening cooperation with the European Union in connectivity, energy security and transport, as well as digital infrastructure development, and highlighted the need to “fully” exploit the potential of the Black Sea and future plans for the development of the Black Sea infrastructure connecting the European Union and Georgia.
In addition, Janjalia also focused on the importance of strengthening strategic communications and combating disinformation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, as well as deepening cooperation in security.
