Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday claimed President Salome Zourabichvili had "strengthened the false campaign” of the opposition United National Movement party with her address to the Parliament on Friday.

Mdinaradze accused Zourabichvili of having "reinforced the false campaign of the United National Movement and their goals against this country", and of not being "objective" in her remarks.

Zourabichvili told ruling team members in the legislative body the Government must fulfil the country's “European future” as the "will of the Georgian people".

That is what the people gave you the mandate for - that is why you are here”, she said in her comments.

In his response, Mdinaradze noted the goal of the domestic “radical” opposition was to see the country fail in being granted the European Union membership candidate status, "only because they want to change the Government in Georgia by any means and in any form”.

Does not your position directly or indirectly align with these goals? While the European Union itself, at the level of criteria, recognised that Georgia had deserved the candidate status [in 2022], today you said that Georgia did not deserve the status”, Mdinaradze told the President.
