Georgia reports 698 new cases of coronavirus, weekly positivity rate stands at 3.12%

Georgia has reported 698 new Covid-19 cases, 1,036 recoveries, and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the last seven days stands at 3.12 percent.

Overall 8,055 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 22,903 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 20,175 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,728 were PCR tests. 

1,647,243 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,622,432 of 1,647,243 patients have recovered, while 16,730 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 698 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 254 cases 
  • Adjara - 19 cases 
  • Imereti - 102 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 39 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 50 cases 
  • Guria - 54 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 63 cases 
  • Kakheti - 54 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 19 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 12 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 32 cases

A total of 592 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 159 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

7,463 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,359,851 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,256,211 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.7 percent of the country’s adult population and 239,016 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
