The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia held mock elections using electronic verification, voting and vote counting devices in Georgia’s seaside city of Batumi on Tuesday.
The simulated voting process took place at two polling stations of Batumi.
CEC Head Giorgi Kalandarishvili said if mock elections proved successful, the Commission would use the electronic devices on actual elections as well.
Good international practice, including that of the European countries, indicates that the use of such technological means significantly simplifies the electoral process and removes certain question marks, including the manipulative ones, regarding various procedures” Kalandarishvili explained.
The polling stations for simulated elections opened at 11 AM and closed at 5 PM.
