1.28 mln Georgian citizens spend $130 mln on domestic tourism in Q3 2022

About 1.28 million Georgian citizens aged 15 and above made 1.47 million monthly visits within the country in the third quarter of 2022 and spent ₾346.3 million (about $130.44mln), the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia show. 

The figures showed the monthly average number of visitors decreased by 6.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the monthly average expenditures increased by 15.5 percent year-on-year, Geostat said.

In the Q3, the monthly average number of domestic tourist visits by Georgian residents amounted to 774,700, which is an increase of 4.8 percent compared to the previous year.

The majority of the visitors (39 percent) were residents of capital Tbilisi, followed by the  Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions (13.7 percent) and the Kvemo Kartli region (10.7 percent), "while the rest of the regions are represented by a lower share in the structure", Geostat said.

The majority of the visits came in Tbilisi (average 301,600 visits per month) and Imereti region (245,900 visits per month). 

People aged 31-50 were among the most avid domestic travellers (37.2 percent), while 55.4 percent of visits were made by women, Geostat said.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the monthly average number of visitors increased by 26.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
