The body of Jambulat Khoperia, the Georgian volunteer who died in Ukraine last week following combat action in the ongoing war, was repatriated to Georgia on Thursday morning.

Family members and a group of citizens gathered at the Tbilisi International Airport to pay homage to Khoperia, whose body will be transported to the home village of Gvimralauri in the western region of Guria.

Khoperia’s family members and friends said the volunteer had died from complications caused by chemical poisoning in action.
