Georgian parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili and his parliamentary delegation on Friday discussed the "difficult" security situation in the South Caucasus region with members of the South Caucasus parliamentary group of the German Bundestag.
The parliamentary group members “positively assessed” Georgia's role in ensuring regional peace, highlighting the ongoing war in Ukraine and its consequences for the region, the Georgian parliament’s press office said.

On his part, Papuashvili underlined the country's efforts to complete the implementation of the European Union recommendations for granting it the membership candidate status, and emphasised the importance of Germany's support in the process.
Led by Papuashvili, the delegation is on a visit to Germany and holding bilateral meetings with high officials in Berlin.
Papuashvili on Tuesday praised Germany’s role in and support for his country’s European integration agenda, at an event in Berlin marking the 30th anniversary since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Citing the words of German chancellor Olaf Scholz in October that Europe should “expand from Lisbon to Tbilisi”, the official said the vision had reiterated the German government’s support for Georgia’s “full membership” in the European family.
