Irakli Chikovani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said the Georgian delegation at the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe this week would talk about the progress made by the country's authorities in implementing conditions for the European Union membership candidate status.

The parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe is not directly related to the decisions made in the EU, but it is a very important forum to talk to our colleagues, the people who shape each state's position on specific issues", Chikovani observed.

"The people who participate in the parliamentary assembly have a very active political life, are actively involved in the political life of their countries and have influence on the processes”, he added.

Chikovani noted that within the framework of the assembly the Georgian delegation would hold bilateral meetings, focusing on the domestic political developments and the progress made in implementing the EU conditions.

During this week, several members of the Georgian delegation will address the parliamentary assembly, with a focus on these issues”, he concluded.
