The strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, including in the fields of transport and energy, was discussed on Saturday by the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Azerbaijani energy minister Parviz Shahbazov.
Georgia’s readiness to deepen regional cooperation in the direction of energy security through the “close cooperation” with Azerbaijan was emphasised at the meeting, the government administration said.
It was expressed that Georgia, as a “reliable” transit partner of Azerbaijan, would continue to make a “significant contribution” to the implementation and development of transport projects, with the officials pointing out that the implementation of these “strategic projects” would increase the efficiency and safety of cargo transportation from Asia to Europe through the Caspian and Black seas.

Priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector were discussed on Saturday in a meeting between the Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili and the Azerbaijani energy minister Parviz Shahbazov.
The development of the Middle Corridor transportation lane of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and the increase of competitiveness of the corridor were discussed on Tuesday in a tripartite meeting between Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili, Azerbaijani Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev and Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu.
Deepening bilateral cooperation was the subject discussed on Wednesday in a meeting involving the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Rashad Nabiyev, the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan.
