Georgia enjoys its international partners’ “full confidence” and acts together with the international community, we can appease our opponents that there is no circumvention of the sanctions imposed by the international community against Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, Levan Davitashvili, the economy minister said on Thursday addressing the parliament.
Davitashvili said the circumvention of the sanctions has been "another worn-out topic” of conversation of the opponents, whose “only goal” has been to “somehow discredit the Georgian government in the eyes of the international community".
As for the sanctions control, Georgia is one of the exemplary countries in terms of sanctions enforcement, and this has been confirmed by numerous international evaluations, including by international partners”, Davitashvili added.
The minister also stressed that the ministry had shared relevant information with international partners and had “showed” them how the customs services work in Georgia to avoid the circumvention of sanctions.
As Davitashvili explained, the Georgian maritime transport agency receives documents in advance, which are verified accordingly, and later decisions are made on receiving ships or cargo, adding that Georgia has been carrying out its international obligations with “absolute high responsibility and efficiency”.
