The Russian occupation forces carried out illegal ‘borderisation’ activities adjacent to the administrative boundary line near central Georgia’s Russian-occupied village of Knolevi in the Kareli municipality, the state security service of Georgia announced on Friday.

The state body said the occupation forces had illegally installed metal poles and barbed wire fences on the ground, creating new barriers along the line.

The service also said it had alerted the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairpersons of the Geneva International Discussions of the circumstances. In addition, the EUMM-managed hotline had also been activated.

Each case of illegal activities of the occupation forces, including the illegal ‘borderisation’ is a subject of a firm response of the central government of Georgia and our international partners”, the state body noted.

It also said the issue would be raised within the Geneva International Discussions and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism talks.
