Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Union Integration Committee, on Wednesday called “all political actors” in the country to “heed the message from Brussels” and take part in the work on implementing conditions for obtaining EU membership status for the country.
Botchorishvili was commenting after Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said on Tuesday “the process of joining the European Union must be based on the consensus of the whole nation and everyone should work together, not only the government but all political parties”.
Obviously, we have some recommendations to follow. Yesterday we heard many statements, recommendations regarding the importance of their implementation and, most importantly, emphasising the importance of the participation of all political circles, all political classes in this process”, Botchorishvili said in her notes.
She also stressed the process of the implementation of the membership status conditions was a process in which “all political actors who want the country to join the European Union must participate”, adding otherwise the process would be “damaged”.
