Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday named “sabotage” among possible causes of ongoing wildfires across the country.

A lot of people have the perception that the fires may have been caused by the negligence of some people, it may have been caused by too much heat, there are versions that it may be some kind of sabotage - nothing is excluded”, Garibashvili said.

While making remarks about potential subversion, the head of the Government also urged the citizens of the country to “exercise caution” in the recent dry climate.

We cannot exclude anything, because we know the nature of the destructive forces operating inside the country and their subversive tendencies - nothing can be excluded, therefore the investigation must work in all directions and give an exhaustive answer to all versions, and I know that it will be so”, Garibashvili noted.

“I want to call on our citizens to be more careful. It hasn't rained for several weeks now, it is a difficult situation, but I want to point out that there are fires all over Europe, in America, everywhere, and it's a big challenge. So, we should be more responsible about such issues”, he concluded.
