The Georgian capital city of Tbilisi is hosting the 14th Annual Conference of the American Association of Wine Economists, with the Tbilisi State University welcoming participants of the event in the country for the first time.
Over 100 wine economists from the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, Hungary, France, Canada, Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands and Italy are attending the conference to discuss the wine economy and industry.
Hosted at the university between Wednesday and Sunday, the conference is supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia, the Georgian Wine Association, and the America-Georgia Business Council.
Three venues in Massachusetts will open their doors for a historical introduction to and contemporary look at Georgian winemaking starting this Sunday, within the second edition of annual Ghvino Forum.
"This is the biggest event in our country’s life in terms of cementing Georgia’s image as the world’s cradle of wine”, said Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
Georgia’s winemaking Kakheti region will host a global conference on wine tourism, where gastronomy and wine-lovers are invited to enjoy the culture and lifestyle experience of Georgia while exploring the wine tourism opportunities the country has to offer.
The United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has decided to host the first Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Georgia to demonstrate the country’s tourism potential and promote Georgia as a "wine homeland all over the world”.
Georgian deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili featured at the World Tourism Organisation's sixth global conference on wine tourism to promote Georgian wine at the event hosted in Italy, the ministry announced on Thursday.
