Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has stated in the New Year congratulation speech that her task is ‘to find a path of national consent for the country’s future,’ stressing the importance of reconciliation of the Georgian people.
She noted that she will continue to use ‘all her efforts to somehow find a way to reach each other.’
Zurabishvili began her speech by expressing the wishes of six children from Georgia, stating that their wishes were fulfilled, however, noting that ‘we will not be able to fulfil wishes of many other children for a long time.’

Zurabishvili in her New Year’s message focused on the challenges Georgia faces, saying that ‘the country stands in front of a huge ditch.’
We have lost each other, we are pushing each other towards this trench, we no longer need the enemy, we are doing the enemy’s job with extreme envy and bitterness, hatred and controversy, short-term plans and even more short-sighted vision and unfounded ambitions,” Zurabishvili stated.
Zurabishvili wished for the Georgian population a happy New Year, stressing the importance of ‘listening and sharing thoughts with each other.’
