Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday held a farewell meeting with Carl Hartzell, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, with the latter’s diplomatic term in the country coming to a close.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the “historic” decision of the European Council to grant Georgia a European perspective, and the country’s “success” on the European integration path, including its successful implementation of “complex reforms”, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

Darchiashvili said Georgia maintained an “advanced position” among the EU’s Eastern Partnership states according to various international ratings and standards, and added the country would continue to “strive for further success” on the European integration path, including through the implementation of its “ambitious” agenda of reforms.
