A protest rally was called on Monday outside the Government Administration in Tbilisi by the civic movement Back Home to Europe, with organisers pledging to launch other demonstrations across the country.

Local media reported on the protest, which follows Sunday’s demonstration outside the Parliament that protested the failure of the Government in obtaining the European Union membership candidate status last month.

Those taking part in Monday’s gathering did not present a specific plan of action but explained the purpose of their gathering as “making the voice of the people heard” to Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

Giga Makarashvili, one of the founders of the civic movement Shame - organisers of the Sunday rally - told reporters the organisers would meet and discuss how to continue protest rallies around the subject.

Shame movement has called for the formation of a “technical interim government of national accord” that would be tasked with implementing the 12 recommendations issued by the EU for Georgia to receive the candidate status later this year.
