Former Newcastle United midfielder and ex-head coach of the Georgian national football team Temur Ketsbaia will lead Cyprus, the Cyprus Football Association announced on Thursday.
Ketsbaia, who in 2019 managed Cypriot football club Anorthosis Famagusta, will work as the coach of the national team through the qualifying stage for the 2026 World Cup.

Georgian sports news agency europop said Ketsbaia’s annual salary for the position would be €200,000.
As a player, Ketsbaia represented the Georgian national team and played for Dinamo Tbilisi, Anorthosis, AEK Athens, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Dundee. He also led the Georgian national team as the head coach between 2009-2015.
