Two individuals, including a pregnant woman, died and three were injured after a balcony of a five-storey residential building collapsed in south-eastern Georgia’s Marneuli municipality on Sunday.
Interpressnews reported on Monday the pregnant woman had died in hospital after receiving injuries in the incident, with her child saved by doctors following a Caesarean section delivery. The patient was 38 weeks pregnant.
Earlier on Monday doctors said an eight-year-old who received multiple injuries in the incident was in “severe” health condition and under artificial respiration, after undergoing surgery at a Tbilisi hospital the previous day.
A seven-year-old boy was also injured in the collapse, with Rustavi 2 TV channel reporting he was receiving treatment for minor injuries in Marneuli’s Aversi Hospital.
An investigation into the incident has also been launched by relevant bodies.
The facade of a five-storey residential building partially collapsed yesterday on Rurua Street in the Georgian coastal city of Batumi after which 72 families have been evacuated from the building.
A seven-storey apartment building, which partly collapsed on October 8 and claimed the lives of nine people — including three minors — will be completely dismantled, Batumi City Hall reports. The city hall also states that negotiations will be held with citizens on the issue of the transfer of apartments.

The acting mayor of Batumi Lela Surmanidze told local media outlet Batumelebi that among the missing people there is one bedridden patient woman, 'who might have been at home'.
