Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said Georgia was ahead of Ukraine and Moldova, the fellow states with European Union membership bids, in “all parameters” of EU integration.
We know that Georgia is ahead of both Ukraine and Moldova in all parameters. We are ready for the membership candidate status, therefore, our expectations are optimistic”, the GD official said.
Kobakhidze stressed the Georgian authorities had carried out “a lot of work” in terms of completing the country’s membership questionnaire, on the basis of which the European Commission was preparing an evaluation report on granting the candidate status to the country.
The European Commission is expected to deliver its opinion on the EU candidacy of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia on Friday. The Council is then expected to make a final decision on each country on June 23-24.
