The Georgian maritime sector is showcased at Posidonia 2022, one of the world’s leading shipping exhibitions hosted at the Athens Metropolitan Expo in Greece, the Georgian Ministry of Economy announced on Tuesday.
As part of the exhibition, Tamar Ioseliani, the Head of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, met with George Pateras, the President of the Hellenic Maritime Chamber, and discussed the results of the ongoing and implemented reforms in Georgia.
The supply of qualified personnel to the market has increased significantly in recent years, and we are pleased that this process has a sustainable, stable nature, which gives us the expectation of even more successful cooperation in the future," Pateras said at the meeting.
Ioseliani said that Greek companies were one of the largest employers of Georgian sailors.
A very successful and fruitful meeting took place with [Pateras] and his team. The Greek side asked us to increase the supply of officers to the Greek shipowners. We are glad that Georgia's achievements in the maritime field do not remain beyond the attention of our foreign partners," Ioseliani said.
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in terms of employment of Georgian sailors in Greece, and also agreed on an upcoming visit of Greek maritime industry players to Georgia.
