The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged a Turkish businessman for illegal purchase and possession of “especially large amounts” of drugs in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi, the Office said on Thursday.
The state body said police had seized about seven grams of cocaine following a search of the flat of Galif Ozturk, who had been subject of an outstanding court warrant for tax evasion, forgery, “use of false settlement documents” and money laundering.
In the statement, the Office said the discovery of drugs had been made in the flat on Tuesday, while law enforcement officers were conducting their search using the warrant.
The offender is set to face up to 20 years in prison, or life imprisonment.
