The Tbilisi-based Defence Institution Building School and the Netherlands Institute of International Relations have agreed to enhance their cooperation, the Ministry of Defence of Georgia said on Friday.

The Ministry-operated School and the Dutch Institute - also known as Clingendael Institute - agreed to expand their cooperation at a conference hosted by the DIBS  and entitled Learning and Development: Sharing Experiences and Best Practices.

In the conference, the best international practices and the importance of digital and innovative tools in the learning process were discussed, with representatives of the Institute praising their collaboration with the School.

Georgia can be so proud of the DIBS. […] We [the Clingendael Institute] have implemented a whole infrastructure for trainers, for curricular development and networking here in Tbilisi. We are really looking forward to extending our partnership in other levels of cooperation,” Ron Ton, the Director of the Institute, said.

Founded in 2016, the DIBS is aimed at fostering professional and institutional development of the Georgian Ministry of Defence and promotes a “common understanding” of security and defence policy across the Government and civil society.

The School also works to enhance cooperation between Georgia’s security sector, regional countries, and NATO allies.
