Russian occupation forces illegally arrested Georgian citizen Giorgi Kujoshvili near the central Georgia’s occupied village of Adzvistavi on Tuesday, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) confirmed earlier today.

The State Security Service told agenda.ge the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) had been informed about the incident, and the EUMM hotline had been activated.

Kujoshvili, a local of the village of Akhalubani - also located near the administrative boundary separating the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the Georgian-controlled territory, was subsequently reportedly taken to a Tskhinvali prison for “illegally crossing the border,” Interpressnews reported.

Eight Georgian citizens illegally imprisoned by the Russian occupation forces remain in de facto custody in Tskhinvali as of today.

The Georgian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported on Wednesday Georgian authorities would once again demand the release of the imprisoned citizens at the 106th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), a platform facilitating talks between Georgian agencies and de facto authorities, scheduled for April 12 in Ergneti.
