Tbilisi Open Air, one of the largest music festivals held annually in the capital city, has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to pandemic, with cases of the virus rising across Georgia over the recent weeks.
Organisers announced on Wednesday they would not been able to organise a "major-scale international festival" with the current Covid situation, regulations and vaccination trends.
Dates and the artist line-up for the next festival will be revealed in spring 2022, with season passes extended to account for the 2020 and 2021 cancellations.
Organisers also plan to host smaller-scale events like Lisi Wonderland - held in the recreational space around the hilltop Lisi Lake in the capital - once regulations and the Covid circumstances allow.
Last year the festival, initially planned for June, was first postponed in April and then cancelled altogether in the summer. The 2021 edition, which was set to mark the event's 12th year, was then announced for the dates of June 25-27.
Pre-pandemic editions of the festival hosted around 45,000 music enthusiasts near Lisi Lake and has a line-up of locally and internationally sought-after artists.
