Turnava and Mus have discussed the opportunities ensured by a new economic cooperation strategy between Georgia, Turkey and the EU.
According to the strategy, Georgia will produce a range of products with raw materials imported from Turkey and the products will be sold on the EU market.
Turnava said that this model of cooperation will support the development of several industrial sectors in Georgia, including textile, furniture, building materials, plastics and others, and attract new foreign investments.
She said that the launch of the cooperation will also increase the range of products that can be exported to the EU, as well as encourage Turkish investments in Georgia.
Turnava said that more than 1.7 billion USD has been invested in Georgia from Turkey between 2005 and 2020, noting that Turkish investments amounted to 75.55 million USD in the first three quarters of 2021, ‘which is 107% more compared to the same period of the last year.’
She stated that more than 5.6 million tourists from Turkey have visited Georgia between 2015 and 2020, while 261,289 visitors arrived in Georgia from the country in the first ten months of 2021.
